Let’s talk about “owner trained programs”…….
What does this mean?
Owner trained partnerships allow the handler to be involved throughout the complete journey to compliance under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 DDA. Giving the handler control and input into the journey and allows the handler to learn tools to address behavioural issues during the training process that can be utilised in the future.
The “owner trained” model enables the handler to engage with others, develop a sense of meaningful purpose as their journey develops. As we know no journey is without challenges, but with the full support of the team around them the handler can develop skills to over come such challenges.
Let’s call it a Partnership!!!!!
Care Dogs & Co owner/handler’s partner with some of the most qualified trainers Australia has to offer. They also partner with Care Dogs & Co to follow a carefully developed program. Care Dogs & Co partner with trainers to ensure high delivery of standards are met!
There’s a HUGE amount of partnering going on!
This partnership journey requires a tremendous amount of dedication, time & commitment. Not to mention the financial investment the owner/handler invests. This is certainly not a decision taken lightly!
The Care Dogs & Co program is, in our opinion, the best partner training program on offer with strict guidelines and expectations. We as an organisation have a public standard to uphold, jackets certainly aren’t just handed out!
So moving forward you may see Care Dogs & Co shift the language around our model from “owner trained” to “partnerships” - don’t be alarmed, we are still offering that great model, just starting to change perception for the sector as a whole!
